The State and Local Economic Impact of the 2021 National High School Finals Rodeo

August 20, 2021

The National High School Finals Rodeo (NHSFR) is a new major visitor event for Nebraska, held in 2021 at the Lancaster Event Center Fairgrounds in Lincoln. The NHSFR will be held in Lincoln two more times later in the decade. Like the College World Series and the Henry Doorly Zoo, the NHSFR is an event that attracts a large share of participants and visitors from outside of the State of Nebraska, leading to a significant impact on the state and local economy. Visitors traveling long distances often stay for an extended period, spending hundreds or even thousands of dollars while in the state. This report evaluates the economic impact in both Lancaster County and the State of Nebraska.
